Kenny Omega’s New Japan Pro Wrestling contract is ending in a few weeks. Omega is expected to sign with All Elite Wrestling according to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer.
Meltzer noted in today’s edition of Wrestling Observer Radio that it looks like Omega is heading to AEW. The WWE did try to secure Omega to a fantastic deal, but according to sources within the WWE, that is not going to happen.
New Japan Pro Wrestling wants to continue to work with Kenny Omega, but in order to do so they may have to strike a deal with All Elite Wrestling. As of now, no deal is made, and New Japan is only working with Ring of Honor.
It was noted that a deal with All Elite could be made in order to retain the services of Omega.
New Japan Pro Wrestling, Ring Of Honor, and All Elite Wrestling had a meeting last week to discuss a possible partnership. New Japan will continue to work with Ring Of Honor, but chose not to have a relationship with All Elite Wrestling
Meltzer noted that although everyone was cordial during discussions, business took precedence over personal feelings.
It was also noted that Ring Of Honor does not want Cody and The Young Bucks to work the G1 Supercard event at Madison Square Garden. The trio has already stated publicly they are not involved in that show.
There is no official word on figures for the expected Omega/AEW deal, and plans can always change based on if New Japan or WWE can work out something better for Omega.
Omega recently stated in an interview with Tokyo Sports that he was leaving New Japan at the end of the month. New Japan reportedly found out Kenny’s intentions from this interview with the Japanese based publication.
