WWE’s plans to expand to the Indian market with the development of NXT India is expected to begin next month.
Earlier this month, reports emerged regarding WWE’s plans host an eight-man single-elimination tournament to launch the brand.
According to John Pollock of POST Wrestling, Indian talent were involved in a photoshoot this week to take updated photos. WWE currently has a taping date listed for 1/22 for ‘India Special’ on their internal calendar.
Multiple sources expect the program to be a series, with one person indicating it could be a one or two-night special to kick things off, similar to how NXT UK began with a two-night tournament.
It should be noted that this has been in the works for sometime, and plans have evolved many times, and could continue to shift prior to taping.
