During the open bout of tonight’s show, Leon Ruff defeated Johnny Gargano to win the NXT North American Championship.
The closing moments of the match saw Gargano miss a superkick, which allowed Leon Ruff to execute a crucifix pin to gain the victory and the title.

Leon Ruff signed a deal with WWE this past July. Ruff has been seen on WWE programming dating back to March, appearing on RAW, SmackDown, 205 Live, and NXT programming.
Prior to signing with WWE, Leon Ruff was a member of the EVOLVE roster. WWE signed several former EVOLVE talents to deals following the purchase of the promotion.
