The man who found Chris Jericho’s All Elite Wrestling Championship had no idea he found something so sought after.
Frank Price of Tallahassee was interviewed by the Tallahassee Democrat and provided details how he came across the AEW title. Price said he discovered a velvet bag in the middle of a turn lane near Capital Circle Southwest. He took the bag home and discovered the title.
“I think I said something like, ‘Whoa, it’s a huge wrestling belt, check this thing out!’ ” Price stated. “I never would have guessed that if I had a lifetime of guesses.”
His wife took to Google to find out more information on the belt, and found knockoffs for sale on eBay. They didn’t realize it was an actual title that had been lost or stolen until after he posted an ad on Craigslist.
“I found a pro wrestling championship belt on hwy 20 Sunday afternoon,” Price’s Craigslist ad said. “Contact me with details and you can come get it.”
Price eventually was provided a link to an article indicating the belt was missing, and returned it to the Tallahassee Police Department. While he was returning the belt, he bumped into Mike Vaughn, owner of Mike’s Limosuine, the company that Chris Jericho hired to transport him to Longhorn Steakhouse from Tallahassee Airport. Vaughn was planning on filing an insurance claim on the belt, and was pleased to hear the belt was found, and gave Price a $200 reward.
Police were suspicious of Price and Vaughn being at the same place, and took sworn testimony, as well as looked up GPS records to prove Vaughn was nowhere near the Longhorn Steakhouse the day the belt went missing.
