In September of last year, Maria Kanellis announced she was pregnant. WWE picked up on this with a storyline including herself and her husband, Mike Kanellis. Maria announced that Mike was not the baby’s father. This destroyed Mike, with him failing tasks Maria had set for him and continued to lose matches. Maria told her husband that he was not fit to be a father and that he was a poor excuse of a man.

This lead to Maria forcing Mike to lay down so she could pin him and become the first ever pregnant 24/7 champion. She boasted about it until she had the drop the belt and the storyline when she left to have her child. The two were then amongst the mass release of superstars back in April of this year.

Recently, a fan asked Maria on twitter who the baby’s father was really supposed to be. Maria replied saying that it was set to be Mike all along. He was supposed to go through a storyline from recovering an addiction to building up motivation, and throughout Maria was going to play the bad guy until she returned from maternity leave.

My husband. He was supposed to turn face. And do a story about recovery from addiction and motivation. But… that’s just too good. Too real. Too honest. And of course I was supposed to remain the bad guy. 😘 until I came back from maternity leave. Baby face momma!! https://t.co/XAlaxD869x

Since their WWE release, the pair have been doing a ‘non essential wrestlers’ podcast whilst they wait for their 90 day no-complete clauses to expire.
