Last week representatives from New Japan Pro Wrestling, All Elite Wrestling, and Ring Of Honor were scheduled to meet on the future relationships between all parties.
Based on news from Dave Meltzer on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio we know the short term details of what agreements have been put in place.
New Japan Pro Wrestling and Ring Of Honor will continue their working relationship. All Elite Wrestling will not be working with New Japan Pro Wrestling or Ring Of Honor for the time being.
Arrangements can always be worked out in the future, but as of now All Elite Wrestling has no agreements with either company.
All Elite Wrestling wanted to keep their talent in New Japan Pro Wrestling and work out a deal, but that did not happen.
Ring Of Honor and New Japan are contractually working together for the 4/1 Madison Square Garden show, which for now is exclusive to those companies. What happens after that show as far as working agreements goes can always be changed.
Kenny Omega seems to be stuck in the middle of all this, as he is leaving New Japan. Meltzer did state that All Elite Wrestling is confident that they will be able to sign Omega, but that is not confirmed, and there is now a choice between WWE and AEW.
All Elite Wrestling has also shown interest in Kota Ibushi, as his contract with New Japan Pro Wrestling is expiring.
We should expect to hear more concrete information over the next few weeks, leading into All Elite Wrestling’s “Double Or Nothing” event, which is scheduled to be on Las Vegas this spring.
