Nia Jax has released a statement following her WWE release.
Nia Jax was among the mass WWE releases on Thursday, which also included the likes of Keith Lee, Karrion Kross and Mia Yim.
Following her release, a report emerged from the New York Post which claimed that Jax being unvaccinated was one of the reasons which contributed to her being let go from the company.
Fightful Select noted that the emails sent out by WWE claimed that the wrestlers were released ‘due to budget cuts’, which has been a running theme in the dozens of releases over the past couple of years.
Jax has now taken to Instagram to issue a statement regarding her release, in which she claimed that she recently took a short leave of absence from WWE for a mental health break, and when they sent her the schedule for her return week on November 15, she requested an extension to her mental health break, however didn’t receive a response. The next message she received was that she was being released by WWE. Jax also noted that her vaccination status wasn’t mentioned, and she wasn’t given any choices or options.
Jax went on to state that she loved her career at WWE, and the men and women she worked with. She mentioned that she’s going to need time to process her ‘huge loss’, and that she appreciates everyone’s understanding during an ‘incredibly difficult time’.
Jax last wrestled during the September 20 edition of WWE Raw, where she lost to her former tag team partner Shayna Baszler before receiving a brutal attack at the hands of the former NXT Women’s Champion.
During her time with WWE, Nia Jax became a two-time Women’s Tag Team Champion, and a one-time Raw Women’s Champion. Jax will likely have been given a 90-day non-compete clause before she is able to appear elsewhere.
