Chris Jericho lost his IWGP Intercontinental Championship Friday against Tetsuya Naito at Wrestle Kingdom 13. Many thought this may be his last match with New Japan Pro Wrestling, but it may not be.

Jericho spoke with Yahoo Sports in Japan, and issued a challenge to current IWGP Heavyweight Champion Hiroshi Tanahashi.

“It is a big mistake if you think that the time with me and New Japan Pro Wrestling] is over, I kept the Intercontinental belt for the longest in 2018. So, let me tell you, I want to challenge for the IWGP Heavyweight Belt. … Chris Jericho will challenge the IWGP Heavyweight Champion and you will understand!”

Jericho has been rumored to be linked to All Elite Wrestling, but it appears he is not done with New Japan Pro Wrestling. The hottest free agent in wrestling could always return to the WWE if he chose to.

Jericho showed off battle wounds after his match with Tetsuya Naito. He lost a patch of during the piledriver spot.

The future of Chris Jericho is in his hands, like he wants it to be.
