Earlier this year, it emerged that Candice LeRae’s WWE deal would be coming to an end, with conflicting reports on whether her contract would be extended due to time taken away from the ring for injuries and her first pregnancy.
This doesn’t appear to have happened, as Candice LeRae was moved to the alumni section of WWE.com on Friday morning. Fightful Select later confirmed LeRae’s exit from the company. Because LeRae’s contract expired and she wasn’t released, she wasn’t given a non-compete clause so could appear elsewhere immediately if she wanted to.
LeRae now joins her husband Johnny Gargano as a free agent. Gargano left WWE in December after choosing not to re-sign with the company. Gargano hasn’t wrestled since his exit, however has taken part in several signings after he and LeRae welcomed their first child, Quill, in February.
LeRae last wrested at NXT Great American Bash last July, where her and Indi Hartwell lost the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships to Io Shirai and Zoey Stark. Candice LeRae remained on television while pregnant as a member of The Way. Indi Hartwell and Austin Theory are the only members of The Way still with WWE. Hartwell is still on NXT, whereas Theory is United States Champion on Raw.
Recent reports suggest that both WWE and The Garganos are on good terms with one another, with WWE open to them returning to the company in the future. LeRae is yet to comment publicly on her exit.
