Peacock Scrubbing WWE Library

Peacock is reviewing 17,000 hours of footage as the WWE Network migrates to the streaming service.

Fans began noticing controversial segments being edited out following WWE’s move to the NBCUniversal streaming platform.

According to the Holywood Reporter, ” the NBCUniversal-owned streaming service is reviewing all 17,000 hours of WWE content to ensure it aligns with Peacock’s standards and practices. WWE is also being made aware of any edits.”

Content that has already been removed includes the infamous segment between John Cena and Vince McMahon at Survivor Series 2005 where Vince said the N-word. WWE issued a statement to TMZ regarding the segment, “it was used was an outlandish and satirical skit involving fictional characters, similar to that of many scripted television shows and movies.”

WrestleMania 6 has also seen some edits, with Rowdy Roddy Piper vs Bad News Brown being removed due to Piper being painted half-black during the event.

Last week, the WWE Network began its migration to NBC’s Peacock streaming service. Prior to the move, subscribers were notified that WWE’s full content library wouldn’t be available at launch. The full library is scheduled to be available on Peacock by August.
