Primo Colon Looking To Clear His Name
Primo Colon is speaking out following a WWE suspension which is leaving him off the company payroll for 30 days.
Last week, Primo Colon and Bobby Roode were both issued suspensions for violating WWE’s wellness policy.
Many began to speculate how Colon could be suspended when he hasn’t been at any WWE live events in several months. Primo explained the situation to in an interview with Primera Hora in Puerto Rico.
Colon explained he was suspended for not attending a mandatory WWE drug testing in October. He made WWE personal aware that he was in Puerto Rico, and did not want to pay for a flight to the WWE event if he’s not being used, and would rather take it at a lab closer to him.
“I was not on the road with the company, I was not scheduled for any event in the near future. I am in Puerto Rico when they called me suddenly, not to use me, but to travel to do a doping test. I was ready to do it, but I told them that I was in Puerto Rico and that I was willing to go to a place (laboratory) that they chose to test me without any problem, without any discomfort. I was not going to pay for a trip to just get tested for doping, ”
Colon didn’t hear anything back from the company, presuming they would call him to schedule an appointment with a local lab. Two months later, he receives a letter indicating he was suspended because he “refused” to take the test. Colon plans to appeal suspension.
“I didn’t hear anything from the company and I thought they were going to call me when they found a place to do the test. Almost two months pass and I get a letter that I am suspended, according to them, because I refused to take the test. And that is not correct. They took it as I was out of the country, but I was available, ”
He adds that his reputation is worth more than a pay check, and wants to clear his name regarding the suspension.
“I don’t want them to say that I failed a test , because that is totally false and incorrect. They usually do their doping test at events, someone collects the urine of wrestlers employees, referees, and do their evaluation once a month. I did not test anything positive. I was in Puerto Rico. I have to clarify it because my reputation is worth more than any check, ”
Colon added that he is currently being paid by the company for not working matches, and his contract expires in October 2020.
Primo Colon and his cousin Epico have special clauses in their contracts that allow them to work for their family promotion WWC in Puerto Rico.
