Backstage Details On New Keith Lee Theme Music

Many WWE fans were vocal on social media following Keith Lee’s arrival on Monday Night RAW this week, due to the use of new entrance music.

According to Fightful Select (subscription required), the reason behind this change was due to Keith Lee’s original theme being created by CFO$, which WWE no longer works with. WWE has been “urging talent to ditch their CFO$ themes”, which is something Keith Lee signed off on.

CFO$ reportedly had a terrible deal with their publisher, resulting in half the royalties being split. WWE stopped working with the group after plans to buy CFO$ out of their publishing deal went sour.

Fightful provided some insight on the talks this past February.

The plan that we’d heard was that WWE hoped to bring them in house, but the talks got to a stand-still, and eventually ran out. It’s thought that CFO$ have a non-compete with their publisher, which is why they haven’t returned.

Some talent have not been keen on getting a replacement theme, hating the presented work, and outright rejecting the changes. It’s unknown which talent have refused to change their theme.

Last year WWE hired the music production company DJDTP, which now produces themes for WWE under the name ‘Def Rebel’. The group has produced over 40 themes for the company.

Earlier this year, WWE filed several trademarks for the name Def Rebel.
