Brian James Receives New Role In WWE

Following his departure as the co-lead writer of SmackDown Live, Brian “Road Dogg” James has a new position in WWE.

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, James now working full-time with the NXT brand. “James started working at the Performance Center recently, but his official role and title has yet to be confirmed,” stated Mike Johnson “He made a cameo today on the WWE Combine broadcast on the WWE Network”

James left his position as co-lead writer last month, with sources citing his increased frustration with Vince McMahon making changes to SmackDown scripting.

WWE hired James as a backstage producer in 2014, and was brought into the creative team in 2016. He was promoted to co-lead writer of Smackdown alongside Stephen Guerrieri.
