Cesaro Agrees To New WWE Contract

Recent reports from WrestlingInc caused WWE fans to question Cesaro’s future with the company, however the Swiss Superman has agreed to a new deal, as per the Wrestling Observer.

The Wrestling Observer reports that Cesaro either ‘signed or verbally agreed to a new deal a few weeks ago’ with his current contract set to expire shortly after this year’s WrestleMania.

In January, Shinsuke Nakamura put in an impressive showing during a gauntlet match on SmackDown which was eventually won by Adam Pearce due to interference by Jey Uso and Roman Reigns. The report noted that this spot was originally supposed to go to Cesaro, however due to the fact the company didn’t know if he would re-sign, it went to Nakamura.

According to the report,  Cesaro has been told that his new WWE role is to ‘make new stars.’

Since signing with WWE in 2011, Cesaro has captured the WWE United States Championship, as well as the RAW Tag Team Championship five time, and the SmackDown Tag Team Championship twice. He also won the inaugural Andrew The Giant Memorial Battle Royal in 2014.

Prior to signing with WWE, Cesaro spent several years on the independent scene in Europe, Japan and the United States. He is known for his time in Chikara, ROH, PWG, and Pro Wrestling Noah.
