CM Punk Negotiating Return To The Ring

CM Punk could be making an in-ring return.

Despite not wrestling for over seven years, CM Punk has remained a major taking point within wrestling fans, with many calling for the former WWE Champion to make an in-ring return.

CM Punk’s last wrestling match took place at Royal Rumble 2014, and while he was one of the favorites to win it, it ended up much differently with him getting injured. He was then fired on his wedding day just a few months later.

Since his exit from WWE, Punk hasn’t wrestled for any promotions, however, he has made some appearances, including a guest role on FOX’s WWE Backstage show. Punk has also ventured into MMA, this didn’t end as successfully with two losses, despite one of them being overturned earlier this month.

While Punk hasn’t expressed much interest in returning to the ring, he recently revealed two conditions for this to happen. The first of which is money, however the second is an interesting storyline, with wrestlers he hasn’t worked with before.

According to Fightful Select (subscription required), Punk has been in talks for an in-ring return, with sources indicating that AEW is the most likely landing point.

There was no confirmation of any contracts being signed, a return date or any creative plan, however, it was noted that several companies have expressed their interest in working with Punk now fans have returned.

It was also noted that higher-ups within WWE believe that Punk will be heading to AEW.
