Kairi Sane has been off WWE television since the end of May, following a match she had with Nia Jax, which resulted in her receiving a cut on her head.
According to Fightful Select (subscription required), WWE had plans back in May to send Kairi Sane to Japan, and serve as an ambassador for WWE Japan.
Many have been asking about Sane’s contract status. That, we haven’t heard, but as of May, there were plans for her to return to Japan and serve as an ambassador for WWE in Japan. We have been provided no details as to how that would have affected her in-ring career with the company.
When asked if this role was tied to the rumored NXT Japan division, sources indicate that due to the COVID-19 situation, the company has no plans for to expand at the moment.
It’s unknown if Sane returning to Japan would affect her in-ring career with the company, and it’s unclear if this idea has been taken off the table over the past month.
Following the incident during a match with Nia Jax, Sane took to Twitter to show the large gash on her head, it’s unknown if any further injury was sustained.
You are strong. I have lost to you many times. I am small and you may think I’m weak.
However, you can never beat my heart. I will get back up again. #WWERaw pic.twitter.com/leXMwuiifO— Kairi Sane (@KAIRI_official) June 2, 2020
WWE had plans to return to Japan for live events in July, those have been canceled due to the on-going health crisis.
