Lacey Evans was originally set to win the Raw Women’s Championship.
Last month’s Elimination Chamber pay-per-view was originally set to hold a Raw Women’s Championship match between Asuka and Lacey Evans. However, plans changed upon Lacey’s pregnancy announcement.
According to a recent report from Fightful Select (subscription required), the plan was for Evans to defeat Asuka and capture the Raw Women’s Championship, before going on to continue her feud with Charlotte Flair through at least WrestleMania.
Ric Flair, who managed Evans for several weeks prior to her pregnancy, was tentatively planned to get physical in an angle. The report noted that Flair was unable to get cleared, therefore it didn’t end up happening.
Those that we’ve spoken to in WWE said those were more ambitious plans from Flair himself than their own.
The rivalry between Flair and Evans has now been dropped altogether, with Flair now setting her sights on Asuka and the Raw Women’s Title.
