During Monday’s Raw, The Miz welcomed AJ Styles and Omos to MizTV, where he questioned the former Raw Tag Team Champions partnership, which led to some interesting developments.
The Miz claimed that Omos had confided in him, revealing that he felt like he was carrying their team, and that Styles has been holding him back from his full potential. Omos tried to respond to the claims from The Miz, however The Mysterios made their entrances for the scheduled tag-team match.
Styles started the match for his team, however when he tried to tag Omos in, the 7-foot giant allowed Rey Mysterio to roll Styles up for the win. After the match, Styles began to mock Omos, who beat him down and said that the next time they’ll meet, it’ll be for a match.
Also during Raw, the commentary team revealed that Styles would be making his way to NXT 2.0 on Tuesday night to confront Grayson Waller, who recently called out the Phenomenal One on social media.
Omos only made his in-ring debut in April at this year’s WrestleMania, which has led to many fans questioning whether he’s ready to become a singles star. This wasn’t actually meant to happen so soon however, according to WrestleVotes on Twitter.
WrestleVotes noted that both Styles and Omos have ‘significant plans’ for 2022, therefore WWE didn’t want their split to get in the way of any plans for Royal Rumble or WrestleMania.
If it felt like they sped up the Omos & AJ Styles spilt, it’s because they did. Source says both superstars have significant plans in early 2022, and wanted any type of blow off program done prior to the major Rumble & Mania events.
