This past Monday on RAW, Mike and Maria Kanellis made their way back to main roster television. The angle, which pushed the boundaries of PG programming was put together last minute according to a report from Dave Meltzer in this week’s edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
PWInsider reported yesterday, many people backstage felt that the segment was a way for the company to get back at them for not being transparent about the pregnancy prior to signing a new deal. Meltzer noted that Mike and Maria weren’t aware of the pregnancy until after they signed as well.
“According to those close to the situation, she just found out about it and they immediately put together the angle with Seth Rollins & Becky Lynch that took place.” Meltzer stated. “It is true that when Mike & Maria just recently signed new five-year deals, the office wasn’t aware of the pregnancy, but they didn’t know until after signing the deal either.”
According to Fightful Select, Maria has told people backstage she plans to continue to remain on-screen throughout her pregnancy. Kanellis took to Twitter stating he plans on working as long as doctors allow her to.
