Sammy Guevara caught backstage heat after hurling a chair at Matt Hardy during a recent episode of AEW Dynamite. Hardy ended up being busted open, and received 13 stitches.

Following the airing of the episode, Bryan Alvarez noted during an episode of Wrestling Observer Radio that Sammy Guevara got a “stern talking to”, and used the wrong chair ringside during the segment.

The planned segment had Guevara throw a folding chair, and Hardy would block it with his hands. Instead, Guevara couldn’t find the chair, and threw a different, much heavier chair instead.

Fightful Select (subscription required) provided some additional details on the incident, indicating those they spoke with in AEW believed Guevara’s actions were not intentional, but reckless.

The report also notes that Matt Hardy is usually “mild-tempered”, but was heated following the incident. Guevara reportedly apologized, but there was still heat on the Inner Circle member.

Sammy Guevara recently returned from a 30-day suspension following inappropriate comments he made on a podcast years ago towards Sasha Banks.
