WWE Crossover Shows May Be Coming Soon

NBC and FOX are reportedly pushing for WWE crossovers with NFL and NASCAR.

WrestleVotes recently reported that WWE is looking to hold special episodes of Raw and SmackDown once they return to the road, with King Of The Ring and Old School Raw’s being mentioned as possible ideas.

Fightful Select (subscription required) is now reporting that FOX and NBC, the broadcasters of Raw and SmackDown, were a big reason behind these pitches taking place, with NBC going further by wanting to implement some areas of sport into WWE’s programming.

One pitch was involvement with NASCAR, which included a major race with race cars and star drivers. Another was an NFL-themed night used to promote the launch of Sunday Night Football. This would feature NFL commentators and players, and would include football-themed angles and matches. A Wrestling World Cup was also pitched, with wrestlers racking up points for wins and signature moves.

WWE hasn’t held back on themed shows in the past, with Raw Legends Night and a throwback edition of SmackDown being used in an attempt to save falling ratings.
