Karrion Kross picked up a win over Keith Lee during this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW, but that wasn’t the original plan.
During last week’s episode, Jeff Hardy defeated Kross in a quick match, baffling many fans why the NXT Champion was pinned since appearing on the main roster.
This past weekend, an event venue where Hardy was scheduled to appear announced he tested positive for COVID-19, subsequently causing him to be pulled from WWE television
According to Fightful Select (subscription required), WWE had to shift their creative process due to changes in Jeff Hardy’s status, replacing him with Keith Lee.
The report noted, original plans Jeff Hardy defeating Kross for the second week in a row. Several members of the roster and creative team “were baffled by the idea to beat Kross once, let alone a second straight week”
As of this writing it’s unknown what creative direction WWE has in place, or if Hardy will once again face Kross in the coming weeks when he’s cleared for in-ring action.
