Finish To Randy Orton vs. The Fiend Changed
It seems as if fans weren’t the only ones confused by the ending of a match at last night’s WrestleMania.
Last night saw ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt return to the ring to take on Randy Orton in Wyatt’s first match in over several months. And despite the match having one of the best builds on the card, fans were left disappointed with the finish of the match.
Many expected The Fiend to defeat Orton in quick fashion, however instead Alexa Bliss distracted The Fiend, which allowed Orton to hit him with an RKO for the win.
Fightful Select (subscription required) is now reporting that the plan as of Friday was for Wyatt to defeat Orton, however over the weekend plans changed, which saw Orton going over victorious at the show of shows.
It was noted that many of the people involved in the angle weren’t given any direction other than that it would be writing Orton off of television for a while.
The report added that a ‘surprise finish’ was discussed over the weekend, however ultimately Bruce Pritchard and Vince McMahon were instrumental in the change.
Management was happy with how the finish played out, however, talent was ‘exceedingly confused’, as were the fans both in attendance and watching at home.
