WWE reportedly had no end plan for Elias’ recent vignettes, with a proposed gimmick being scrapped.
Back in August, WWE aired vignettes during Raw where Elias prepared his own grave and claimed that he was dead. These went on for several weeks, until they disappeared and haven’t been seen since.
WrestleVotes have now provided an update on Elias’ situation, with the star being absent from TV for over three months.
Per WrestleVotes on Twitter, WWE had no end plan for Elias’ vignettes, and that they were just there to kill off his drifter gimmick.
It was noted that Elias’ initial rebranding included a beard and colourful trunks, with WrestleVotes comparing it to Randy Savage. Vince McMahon and ‘co’ – higher ups within WWE – didn’t like the idea though, so it was scrapped.
Interesting note on Elias, source states they had no end plan for graveyard vignettes. Just shot them to kill off the “music” gimmick. His initial rebranding weeks back looked to similar to Randy Savage w/ colorful trunks & beard so Vince & co didn’t like it. Back to square 1.

Following the report, Ringside News added additional information, revealing Elias was backstage at television a few weeks ago “with no beard and cropped hair”
Elias’ last match took place on the July 19th edition of Monday Night Raw, where he lost to Jaxson Ryker in a Symphony Of Destruction Match. This put an end to Elias and Ryker’s feud, before Ryker was released by WWE in November.
