Report: WWE Creative Kept In The Dark About ‘Nigerian Drum Fight’ At Wrestlemania 37

“Nigerian Drum Fight” Details Yet To Be Revealed

WWE Wrestlemania 37 is this weekend, and one stipulation match has many kept in the dark.

Big E will defend the WWE Intercontinental Championship against Apollo Crews in a Nigerian Drum Fight during night two of Wrestlemania. The details of the match have yet to be revealed, Big E recently spoke with Ariel Helwani, admitting nobody has explained the match to him.

“Look man, I don’t know. I’ve had a bunch of people reach out to me and ask me what this is. I’ve been reaching out to historians and googling and scouring Peacock. I think it’s a new thing, and no one has explained it to me, so I’ve got some work to do. Maybe I’ll learn on the fly. [I’ve agreed to a match that I don’t know what it is]. Probably not the smartest thing, but we’re going to do it.”

According to Ringside News, “this match stipulation is still a mystery for those backstage as well”, with a member of the creative team revealing they have been kept in the dark on the details of the stipulation.

Fightful Select (subscription required) is reporting their was ideas pitched during the television tapings on 4/1 and 4/2, but “no firm plan” was in place by the time the tapings were finished.

WWE Wrestlemania 37 will take place this Saturday, April 10, and Sunday, April 11 on Peacock, WWE Network (International), and pay-per-view.
