Adam Cole Has Not Been Offered New WWE Contract Yet
News surfaced this week that NXT superstar Adam Cole was nearing the end of his contract with the company, with initial reports revealing that the former triple-crown champion’s deal was extended for him to at least work Takeover 36 on SummerSlam weekend.
According to Fightful Select (subscription required) many in WWE hoped to keep the news about Cole’s contract quiet as they were playing it “close to the vest.” However, there are others who believed the information should be publicized due to the current competitive nature of the industry.
Originally his deal with NXT ended after the July 6th Great American Bash television special, but as previously mentioned Cole agreed to extend it. Some officials were surprised as they had originally believed his deal to run until January of 2022, with some even thinking it was through 2024.
The report adds that WWE has yet to officially offer Cole a full-on new contract yet, but there are “obvious plans” for that in the works.
Whether the former Undisputed Era leader decides to re-sign with WWE has yet to be determined. Cole was put over by many in the company for agreeing to the extension and deciding to reevaluate his options after his program with Kyle O’Reilly came to an end.
The two are most likely to clash for the third time at Takeover 36, and are scheduled to have a face-to-face confrontation on next week’s edition of NXT television.
