WWE added extra elements to this week’s television tapings, including the use of NXT talent in the audience, and plexiglass affixed to the barricades around the ring.
Using a plexiglass barricade may be something that remains in the future, even when fans are allowed to return to venues.
Mike Johnson noted on PWInsider that the use of plexiglass, which we first saw on last night’s episode of Raw to protect the NXT superstars in the audience, could be the way WWE will go ahead, even when they can return to arena’s featuring a live crowd.
They will use it as an ‘invisible barrier’ to protect their superstars and fans during entrances and matches.
There was also talk today as well that the plexiglass used for the TV taping could be the norm going forward for WWE live events if and when they are able to begin touring again with TV and PPVs, utilizing it as a way to keep an “invisible” barrier, so to speak, between the audience and the performers as they are making their way to the ring and performing.
According to Wrestlevotes, WWE has began to internally work on a live event schedule.
While no events are expected to take place before July, the company has begun discussions on how things could work out when it’s safe to do so.
I’m hearing that internally the WWE live event schedule is slowly being rebuilt. I’m still not expecting anything with fans prior to July, however. Discussions about ticket sales going forward have also begun, with social distancing guildlines remaining in place. That’s tricky.

The current reports are that whilst SummerSlam may not take place in Boston, WWE are looking for a location to host a crowd for the PPV, even if it means postponing it until September.
