Riddle gains backstage heat following comments about Reigns
Riddle has been known to bring forth controversial remarks and opinions in the past and has had heat with other wrestlers such as Brock Lesnar and Seth Rollins. Riddle recently had an interview with Bleacher Report where he commented on Roman Reigns.
“You’re not moving needles. I’m the real stallion, RK-Bro is moving the merch, we’re moving the needle, and that’s it. I don’t want to say too much, I’m not trying to get in trouble. Hey, hats off to him. He’s amazing at what he does. I do like what he does, but at the same time, it’s like, get off your high horse. You’re in that spot for a reason. You’re not a bro. You’re second generation. I’m first generation.”
Per Wrestling Observer Newsletter, this was “likely in response to,“ the comments that were made by Reigns where he discussed how he believed C.M. Punk did not move the needle in the same way that John Cena or The Rock did.
The comments, according to Meltzer, were not a good look on Riddle, as he developed heat after making said comments, especially due to the fact that this was not for any specific storyline coming up between the two. Meltzer noted that there is a chance that this could wind up one day becoming a story, but for right now, there is not a plan for it to happen.
The former United States Champion also mentioned in the interview with Bleacher Report the fact that he believes he can beat Reigns, “in a real fight.” All of these comments were seen in a negative light, despite his talent when it comes to Riddle’s in ring work.
