WWE superstar Roman Reigns has been away from the WWE ring for quite some time now. Despite that, he has been active in his social media accounts. In what some people see as an attempt to stay relevant despite not having any recent activity, Roman Reign recently made a bold statement about his significance in the WWE, particularly in the Royal Rumble history. Reigns recently claimed that he is the greatest wrestler in the history of Royal Rumble. “I might be the most important Royal Rumble competitor of all time,” he proudly said. “Before you start complaining, just think about the last 5 years.”

To look back at the contributions of Roman Reigns to the series, here are some of the best moments he had in his Royal Rumble participations.
2014
Although he did not win the championship for this year’s Royal Rumble, Roman Reigns made history by creating a record-high in the number of wrestlers eliminated by a single player. The record in the history of the series back then was held by Kane, and Reigns beat him to it by eliminating a total of 14 players out of the ring. Reigns was eventually eliminated in the matched by Batista.
2015
This year, Reigns won the Royal Rumble. However, it came with a lot of infamy as he won the match through the interference of his cousin The Rock. The crowd of fans were not pleased with how the win happened, and Reigns ended up getting a loud booing from the people.
2016
Following his infamous win in 2015, this year’s Royal Rumble was built upon Roman Reigns, as he was about to defend his title against 29 other players. At the end of it all, Triple H was the one who won the belt. Fans saw this event as the set up for the encounter between Roman Reigns and Triple-H at WrestleMania 32
2020
For the fifth time in his history of participation, Reigns once again made it to the final two in the Royal Rumble. However, he did not win once more as Drew McIntyre ended up toppling him over the top rope.
Withdraw from WrestleMania 36
Roman Reigns, despite his fans being excited for his yet another bout in the ring, announced before WrestleMania 36 that he would not be able to participate on it.
As per the original schedule, Reigns was to fight Goldberg for the WWE Universal belt. There was no reason given for his withdrawal, but it was rumored that it was due to his history of leukemia and its dangers related to covid-19. Though he had beaten the disease twice now, his history made him highly susceptible to the virus that spreads through droplets in the air and attacks the respiratory functions of the body. People with existing medical conditions are also more prone to lethal and fatal complications due to covid-19.
WrestleMania 36 was taped on March 25 and 26, 2020. It was aired on April 4 and 5, 2020. Despite the threat of the covid-19 pandemic, the WWE organizers still pushed through with the event. To still keep the event as planned, the organizers decided to continue with the fight without any fans in the audience area.
