Ronda Rousey is denying reports she was “furious” for not headlining Wrestlemania Saturday.
Shortly after WrestleMania went on the air last night, rumors began to circulate on social media that Ronda Rousey had walked out on WWE ahead of her match against Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship.
These rumors, which falsely credited several wrestling media sites, were proved to be false, as Rousey still showed up for her blockbuster match against Charlotte Flair.
Rousey lost to Flair in the penultimate match of the night. Rousey managed to make Flair tap out, however Referee Charles Robinson had been taken out by a spear from Flair towards the end of the match. Flair then took advantage of the situation by hitting Rousey with a big boot to retain her SmackDown Women’s Championship. This result came as a shock to many fans, as Rousey was the odds-on favourite going into the show.
Despite the rumors of her walking out at WrestleMania being false, Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer Live reported Rousey walked out on the Friday before WrestleMania, which was when WWE were taping SmackDown and the Hall Of Fame ceremony.
He stated that Ronda was ‘furious’ when she found out that she wasn’t main eventing WrestleMania, leading to her walking out and not being present for the Hall Of Fame ceremony.
“Here’s the deal for those who want to know. So on Tuesday, Ronda was doing an interview and she said that she was going on last, she was the main event. On Monday, Kevin Owens said I’m the main event. Ronda thought that she was going on last. She wasn’t, Kevin Owens show was going on last. When she found out, she was furious, I was told. One person who knows her, so I presume that this is true, said that she was so mad yesterday, Friday, that she walked out so she wasn’t at the Hall Of Fame. Cooler heads prevailed, I guess and she showed up today.”
Rousey took to Twitter, stating she was honored to perform under Steve Austin, and wasn’t at the WWE Hall of Fame due to putting her baby to sleep early.
“I don’t know where these “reports” come from but it was an absolute honor to perform under Steve Austin at Wrestlemania in Texas-I wasn’t a hall of fame because I have a six month old baby I had to put to sleep early. People are literally creating drama out of thin air”

Earlier this week, Rousey appeared on The Ellen Show where she mentioned that she would be main eventing WrestleMania, despite Owens confirming on Raw that he would be main eventing the show with the KO Show.
Interestingly, Rousey didn’t appear live during last Friday’s WrestleMania go-home edition of SmackDown. Instead, she was shown in a backstage segment which was presumably pre-taped, while her WrestleMania opponent Charlotte Flair appeared live in front of the crowd.
