Multi-Million Dollar Lawsuit Filed Against Matt Riddle Dismissed
Samantha Tavel better known in wrestling circles as Candy Cartwright has dropped a lawsuit against WWE star Matt Riddle.
As first reported by TMZ, Tavel has voluntarily dismissed the lawsuit. Court documents obtained by HeelByNature.com confirm a “notice of voluntary dismissal” was issued on Monday, July 12.
The lawsuit was filed in October 2020, and it alleged Riddle sexually assaulted her while on tour with EVOLVE wrestling.
She claims the incident occurred in a parking lot following an EVOLVE event in 2017. She says Riddle “bragged” to former EVOLVE owner Gabe Sapolsky. She also alleges Riddle forced her to engage in oral sex in May 2018 on a bus with other EVOLVE talent present.
Tavel said she had bookings with WWE and EVOLVE in January 2020, and prior to that Riddle allegedly forced her to perform sexual acts, or she would lose her bookings. She claims that Riddle informed WWE and EVOLVE that he did not want her working with either company, and she was told “issues with talent” was the reason why she was not booked.
She included an e-mail sent from then WWE extra talent liaison Drake Wuertz, who informed her that her booking with WWE was canceled
She named former EVOLVE owner Gabe Sapolsky and World Wrestling Entertainment as additional defendants in the lawsuit, they were dismissed in March of this year.
Matt Riddle has maintained his innocent, revealing he did have an affair with Tavel, but did not sexually assault her.
It’s unknown if a monetary settlement was reached.
