Shawn Michaels is expected to replace Bruce Prichard in WWE creative.

PWInsider reports WWE is planning to promote from within, and the plan is for Michaels to essentially step into Prichard’s current role. Prichard is WWE’s Executive Director of Creative Writing and Talent, and he is expected to retire from that position at WrestleMania 43. The expectation is he will remain connected to the company as a consultant, working from his home in Texas.

The succession plan has reportedly been in place for some time, and Michaels will start preparing for the Prichard role in the months ahead.

Michaels, 61, currently runs NXT as Senior Vice President of Talent Development and Creative. He stepped into the NXT role in September 2021, and he is extremely close with WWE Chief Content Officer Paul Levesque. The move would put him working closely with Levesque on main roster creative.

What happens with NXT is the open question. People within the Performance Center expect AJ Styles will become more hands-on with NXT after the move is made. Styles has made frequent trips to NXT and the Performance Center in recent years.

What is confirmed is the plan. WWE has not announced any changes, and the timing could still shift before WrestleMania 43.
