The the wife of former WWE superstar Shad Gaspard, who tragically drowned earlier this year in the ocean near Venice Beach, is suing the city of Los Angeles for negligence.

Gaspard and his son, Aryeh, were among a group of swimmers who were caught in a strong current on May 17th, a story that had the pro-wrestling world on edge as Gaspard had gone missing after his son was rescued. Three days later…his body would emerge back on Venice Beach, where he was later identified L.A. County Coroner’s Office.

Gaspard’s wife, Siliana, filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the city claiming that there were not enough signs to warn her husband about the dangerous conditions. She also adds that the lifeguards were slow to react, were poorly trained, and lacked the proper equipment necessary for a rescue. Some of the quotes from the documents can be found below courtesy of The Daily Mail.

-Prior to going into the water Defendants STATE OF CALIFORNIA, COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES, CITY OF LOS ANGELES and DOES 1 to 50, never provided Shad Gaspard or A.G. and warnings of danger or risk.

-At that time, DOES I-50 were working in the course and scope of employment and/or agency with defendants STATE OF CALIFORNIA, COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES, CITY OF LOS ANGELES and DOES 1 to 50, and were responsible for the safety of the public, including Shad Gaspard and A.G.
