R-Truth won the WWE United States Championship tonight on Smackdown Live in Phoenix, AZ
In a controversial finish, R-Truth defeated Shinsuke Nakamura to win the title. R-Truth rolled Nakamura for the pin, and the referee counted three, despite Nakamura seemingly kicking out at the last second.
The referees decision stood, and R-Truth was then challenged by Rusev. R-Truth ended up defeating Rusev to retain the US Title.
This is R-Truth’s second time winning the United States Championship.
