SmackDown Women’s Championship Match To Headline Night One Of Wrestlemania 37
WWE Wrestlemania 37 will be held this weekend, the first large-scale North American wrestling show since the beginning of the pandemic.
In an interview on the Bill Simmons Podcast, WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon revealed Sasha Banks vs. Bianca Belair will headline night one of Wrestlemania 37
“But you can’t discount our women as well. I mean you’ve got Sasha Banks, and Sasha & Bianca [Belair] is newer, but they’re gonna be headlining Night One of WrestleMania. That’s gonna be pretty special and spectacular.”
Over the last few weeks, fans have been using the hashtag #MainEventBanksVsBelair on social media, urging WWE to have SmackDown Women’s Championship match headline night one of the events.
Historically, the WWE Championship match headlined Wrestlemania. In 2019, the RAW and SmackDown Women’s Championship match was slotted in the main event for the first time in the history of the event.
Drew McIntyre recently WrasslinNews about the possibility of opening the show, and why he feels it’s just as important as being the last match on the show. He feels the initial ‘pop’ they will receive from the crowd, who haven’t witnessed a large-scale WWE event in over a year will be just as special.
WWE Wrestlemania 37 will be held this Saturday, April 10 and Sunday, April 11 on pay-per-view, Peacock, and WWE Network (International)
