WWE chief brand officer Stephanie McMahon recently spoke with Variety, revealing WWE’s measures to protect talent from the virus.
“At a typical event, talent are milling about, they’re at catering or wherever when they’re not actually in part of the show,” Stephanie McMahon states. “That’s not allowed now. There’s extensive testing and screening when you first come in the facility regardless of whether you’re a talent, a crew member, or anyone else. Working with our doctors, you have your temperature taken. If you have a temperature over 100.4 degrees, you are automatically asked to leave.”
McMahon also reveals that if talent have been out of the country, or been in contact with anyone outside the country, they will not be allowed in the WWE Performance Center.
“We’re taking every precaution we can. It’s also why you don’t see talent or anyone else in the audience. We really are adhering to all the guidelines that we can to maintain the health and safety of our crew and our performers.”
Segments taped for WWE programming is now filmed in waves to limit the number of personnel in attendance. The company would not reveal how many people are present during filming, but did state they are adhering to CDC guidelines and edicts from local and state officials.
WWE is also asking talent to remain in Florida during television tapings, to limit exposure from travel.
“We have a lot of talent who live in the Florida area, which is very helpful,” McMahon states. “During any type of extensive taping period we are asking all of our talent to remain in the Orlando area and not travel.”
McMahon also revealed that WWE is experimenting with different ways for fans to enjoy Wrestlemania virtually. She did not go into detail on what type of technology is used.
In the past, WWE has added cameras to various parts of the ring area for fans to enjoy a VR experience.
