As we noted earlier this week, Anthem Wrestling Exhibitions LLC, a subsidiary of Anthem Sports & Entertainment Corp. announced they’d officially acquired Global Force Wrestling (GFW) and according to The Tennessean, TNA Wrestling has plans to re-brand itself as GFW.
The report also notes that their weekly show on Pop TV, Fight Network and other stations will keep the Impact title. Also Jeff Jarrett will remain the creative head of Impact.
Anthem’s Ed Nordholm added that the unclearness of the TNA meaning, which stands for Total Nonstop Action but also has a sexual connotation, was a major turn off for many potential marketing partners. Nordholm also said the company is working on a streaming On-demand service to access the vast TNA/Impact tape library which include the likes of AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Kurt Angle and Sting as well as many more.
TNA/GFW has their major annual PPV event, Slammiversary XV, this Sunday, July 2nd, which will be main evented by a title unification match between the TNA Impact Champion Bobby Lashley against the GFW Global Champion Alberto El Patron.
