TNT are reportedly under the assumption that CM Punk is going to AEW.
CM Punk is reportedly making his return to wrestling at this Friday’s AEW Rampage, which takes place in his home city of Chicago.
According to Fightful Select, TNT are excited for Punk’s arrival, with their promotional machine being behind him upon his return. What this could actually mean wasn’t noted, however Fightful mentioned that TNT and WarnerMedia are ‘very aware’.
It was further noted that AEW running four shows over a few weeks in the same market and selling the way they did impressed TNT and WarnerMedia, and that they were specifically excited about the Chicago/Bulls/United Center situation.
While nothing has yet been confirmed regarding Punk’s eventual arrival, AEW and Punk himself have dropped several teasers hinting towards Friday’s show.
AEW have had their wrestlers drop several references during recent episodes of Dynamite, with Darby Allin (despite denying it was for Punk) requesting for the ‘best in the world’ to prove themselves in Chicago.
Punk on other hand has used his Instagram story to drop several cryptic teasers, with fans trying to uncover some of the dates mentioned over recent days.
