A number of last minute changes occurred prior to Sunday’s Clash Of Champions pay-per-view, with three talent pulled from the event.
During the Kickoff Show, Charly Caruso stated Nikki Cross, Shayna Baszler, and Nia Jax were not “medically cleared” to compete at the show.
The reason for the absences are COVID-19 related according to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer. He noted, that at least one or two of the three did not have COVID-19, but were in contact with someone who did.
“Nikki Cross and Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax were all called… they weren’t medically cleared, that was the wording. Nia Jax got really mad about that by the way. But the actual issue is it’s the COVID situation… I know at least one of the three and I think two of the three do not have COVID but they were in contact with someone who does… They (WWE) were afraid of a COVID spread, they were in contact so they were not allowed on the show.”
Their scheduled matches were scrapped, and Asuka replaced Nikki Cross facing Bayley at the pay-per-view. The Women’s Tag Team Championship is advertised to be addressed during tonight’s episode of Monday Night RAW.
Shayna Baszler responded to a fan on Twitter, indicating she did not have COVID-19. Nia Jax tweeted “Lies” to WWE on FOX when the account mentioned her and Shayna were not medically cleared.
