Velveteen Dream Released

Patrick Clark, better known to wrestling fans as Velveteen Dream has been released from the WWE.

As first reported by PWInsider, multiple WWE sources have confirmed Velveteen Dream released from his WWE contract.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select (subscription required) provided some additional details. According to his report, WWE Senior Director of Talent Development Canyon Cemen sent an internal email announcing Dream’s release.

He had not been at many NXT tapings, but had been showing up to open ring sessions. Some in the company believed he would eventually help coach classes.

Velveteen Dream had not wrestled this year, his last match was in December 2020 against Adam Cole.

Earlier this year during an NXT media call,  Triple H was asked for an update on Velveteen Dream’s WWE status. He stated Velveteen Dream was training, and was still part of the NXT roster.

Serious allegations were levied against Velveteen Dream last year, he was accused of sending explicit photos of himself to a minor. He denied the accusations, stating a private photo of himself was shared without his knowledge or permission.

After the allegations went public, Triple H spoke with CBS Sports, stating nothing was found during WWE internal investigations. He reiterated his stance during an NXT media call last fall, stating the company has “moved on”.

Yesterday, WWE released a number of NXT talent and referees.
