WWE has cancelled their scheduled Backlash PPV June 16 in San Diego, CA.

Although the event was not officially confirmed, it appeared on WWE’s routing schedule submitted to the District Court Of New Jersey when attempting to secure an injunction against bootleggers.

Southern California wrestling website socaluncensored.com posted a screenshot from San Diego’s Pechanga Arena dated March 27, which listed Backlash on their calendar of events.

Dave Meltzer confirmed the news on today’s episode of Wrestling Observer Radio stating the company didn’t want to do two PPV’s nine days a part. The event scheduled in Saudi Arabia is June 7, and the scheduled Backlash PPV is June 16.

In speaking with San Diego’s Pechanga Arena, they provided the following comment for HeelByNature.com.

“Hello, this event was never posted to our site and is not confirmed.”

It’s not known whether WWE will still run the arena for a live event that evening.
