WWE has confirmed the 2020 SummerSlam pay-per-view will not take place in Boston at the TD Garden.

In a statement released Thursday. WWE indicated refunds will be available at original point of purchase.

The company says information on a new location will be forthcoming.

In coordination with our local partners, government officials and TD Garden, WWE’s SummerSlam and related events will no longer take place in Boston. Refunds are available at the original point of purchase. We are grateful to the city of Boston for their longstanding partnership and look forward to holding WWE events at TD Garden in the future.

SummerSlam will stream live on Sunday, August 23 at 7 pm ET on WWE Network and information regarding a new location for the event is forthcoming.

WWE is planning on holding SummerSlam at the Performance Center, but PWInsider has updated their original report stating the company is “considering” other potential venues, including an outdoor location.

We were told this morning that the company is “considering” other potential options, including at least one potential outdoor location, so stay tuned.

WWE originally booked four events in Boston at the TD Garden during SummerSlam weekend.

In May, the company was seeking a new location for Summerslam, due to restrictions placed by Boston Mayor Marty Walsh, banning all large scale events in the city until after September 7.

Details will be provided as they are known.
