WWE has filed another trademark for Dominik Mysterio without his legendary last name.
On 10/13, WWE filed a trademark for the name “Dominick” with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. This trademark included the letter “c”, which is not the proper way to spell his name. The spelling was used during his storyline with Eddie Guerrero and his father Rey Mysterio as a child.
Speculation began that the company may be shortening his in-ring name, similar to what they have done with numerous other talent over the years.
On 10/14, WWE filed trademark for the name “Dominik”, using the proper spelling . Both trademarks were filed for entertainment services by a professional wrestler.

During an episode of Grillin’ JR podcast, Jim Ross explained Vince McMahon’s mindset to shortening names, indicating “it’s a showbiz thing”. Vince apparently believes it’s easier to remember one name.
While this doesn’t confirm his last name will be removed, it certainly leads to speculation that it may happen in the future.
