Adam Cole Officially A Free Agent
Former NXT triple-crown champion Adam Cole is officially a free agent.
According to Fightful Select (subscription required), Adam Cole has not re-signed with WWE and is now 100% a free agent. According to WWE sources, “Cole is expected to field offers”, and was not present at last Friday’s SmackDown.
Cole canceled his Twitch stream on Friday, which caused some to speculate he was meeting with WWE officials, which was not the case.
Cole’s original deal with the company expired last month, he agreed to continue to work under a short-term agreement, which expired on Friday, August 27.
Reports had surfaced over the last few weeks that Cole’s contract extension was set to run out after NXT Takeover 36 pay per view, where Cole lost to rival Kyle O’Reilly it what was presumably his last matchup for the NXT brand. Word was that there were plans for him to move to the main roster, with writers on both the Raw and SmackDown brands coming up with storylines for him.
Since signing with the company in 2017 Cole headed the popular Undisputed Era faction in NXT, where he captured the NXT championship, NXT North American championship, and was apart of the trios run as NXT tag champions.
Since news of his free agency went public the Young Bucks and AEW world champion Kenny Omega have teased bringing Cole to AEW, even sharing photos of his old bits in their Youtube series Being The Elite.
