Stephanie Vaquer is out of WWE action because of an illness, and there is still no set date for her return.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer discussed Vaquer on Wrestling Observer Radio. Meltzer said he was told the illness is nothing terribly serious, but he stressed that her return date is not settled.
“She’s ill. It’s not anything. I was told nothing terribly serious or anything, but she’s ill, and she’s out. It’s indefinitely in the sense that it’s not like it’s a week. It’s something that’s indeterminate yet as far as when she’ll be back,” Meltzer said.
Meltzer also said the absence was not a worked storyline and was not about a new injury. Vaquer was scheduled to face Becky Lynch in a number one contender’s match on the October 26 episode of Raw. The match was going to go ahead, Meltzer said, but Vaquer got sick and could not come.
Raw General Manager Adam Pearce opened that Raw by announcing Vaquer was not medically cleared to compete. WWE instead booked Lynch against Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan. That match ended by disqualification after interference from Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez, so Morgan kept the championship.
The illness is separate from Vaquer’s ankle problem earlier in October. She suffered that ankle injury at Money in the Bank, then returned at live events in Hawaii and said she had been medically cleared before the planned match with Lynch. That is why her late removal from Raw caught viewers by surprise.
PWInsider previously reported that Vaquer’s absence was believed to be illness related. No specific illness has been named in the reporting, and WWE has not announced when Vaquer will be cleared to return.
What is confirmed is the illness, the missed Raw match, and that no return date has been set. What is not confirmed is the nature of the illness or when Vaquer will be back on television.
