Update:
Fightful Select (subscription required) spoke with additional WWE sources after their original story was posted.
The updated report notes it’s been a “poorly kept secret that WWE hopes to have Lesnar back”, but those close to him don’t believe any contract has been signed.
Brock Lesnar WWE Return Update
WWE is hopeful Brock Lesnar will be returning to the company soon.
According to Fightful Select (subscription required), WWE sources have confirmed Brock Lesnar has been in recent talks with the company for an imminent return.
WWE removed Brock Lesnar’s merchandise from the WWEShop last year, but the report notes, “neither side was particularly concerned about things, and the process was just ‘taking longer than usual to work together again.'”.
Andrew Zarian of Mat Men Podcast added to the report, indicating WWE wanted a deal with Lesnar finalized for SummerSlam, but ultimately ended up using John Cena for the main event. Cena is expected to face Roman Reigns at the show.

This year’s SummerSlam show is considered an “all hands on deck” event, and a number of major players are expected to work the show.
As with anything involving Brock Lesnar, until he shows up on television, it’s never 100% confirmed.
