WWE has reportedly denied Mustafa Ali’s request to be released from his contract.

According to Fightful Select (subcription required), sources have confirmed Mustafa Ali and WWE management have spoken, and Ali was informed he “would not be granting his request for a release at this moment.”.

Ali reportedly has “years left on his WWE deal”, despite not being on television for over two months. Many believed he was off television due to paternity leave, but sources state he only asked to be off one event.

The term “value” was brought up in discussions between WWE and Ali, and it’s unknown if that was the deciding factor to not grant him a release from his contract.

Mustafa Ali requested his release from the company earlier this month, revealing his decision on social media.

Fightful reported the day Ali requested his release, he and WWE chairman Vince McMahon got into a “heated argument” over creative plans.

It’s unknown when WWE will bring Ali back to television.
