Zelina Vega Escorted From SmackDown After Being Denied Meeting With Vince McMahon
Last Friday, Zelina Vega was released from the WWE due to continuing to use third party sites such as Twitch and OnlyFans after Vince McMahon ordered superstars to end connections.
Since the start of the Coronavirus Pandemic, WWE were unable to run live tours. This meant that WWE superstars were left with more time on their hands. Many wrestlers started to stream on Twitch and set up YouTube channels, and it all seemed completely fine for a while.
However in October, Vince McMahon sent out a company wide email, ordering superstars to cease third party activities or possibly face fines, suspensions, and even the possibility of being fired. One of the superstars to go against the order and continue to stream was Zelina Vega, who was released from the WWE last Friday.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that last Friday, Mark Carrano, WWE’s Senior Director Of Talent Relations, was told to tell Vega that Vince McMahon didn’t want to talk to her following her release. Vega was then escorted out of the building.
It was also noted that Senior Vice President Bruce Prichard backed Vince McMahon on WWE’s third party ban. Prichard, who co-hosts the ‘Something To Wrestle’ podcast with Conrad Thompson, made it clear to Vince that he would not be giving up his show when he was hired as Senior Vice President and Executive Director of Raw and SmackDown. This reportedly didn’t go down well with WWE employees as they were forced to shut down their third party relations.
