WWE Hall of Famer Rocky Johnson passed away in his home in Lutz, FL on 1/15 .

Johnson’s friend, and former WWE Superstar Brian Blair spoke with The Tampa Bay Times revealing the cause of his death.

“A blood clot traveled from his leg into his lung,” Brian Blair stated. “He died of natural causes.”

Blair stated that Johnson had not felt well for two weeks prior to his passing, but thought he had the flu.

Johnson was reluctant in seeking medical advice, but eventually saw a doctor the day before he died.

“Every Sunday we’d go together to church,” Blair stated. “But he hadn’t been able to make it the past two weeks.”

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson posted video on Sunday afternoon explaining the cause of death, indicating his father suffered a heart attack as result of deep vein thrombosis, resulting in a blood clot travelling to his leg to his lung.

“A lot of you guys wanted to know what happened to my dad. He had not been feeling well, had been battling a cold and infection and on Tuesday he had what’s called a deep vein thrombosis, which is essentially a clot in the leg. It was a big ole blood clot that broke free, traveled up his body, and went right to his lung, clotted his lung and he died very quickly from a massive heart attack, just like that,”

Rocky Johnson’s funeral will be on 1/21, and will be a private event for family and close friends. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will be giving a eulogy for his later father.

“I’ve written a lot of speeches for myself over the years but I have no idea where to start with this one. But I do have my tequila and I can hear him now, ‘Good that’s the way you gotta do it,’ and I can also hear him now ‘Make sure you put me over in the speech, say good stuff about me,’”

Ric Flair, who is scheduled partake in Chris Jericho’s cruise will be attending the funeral and immediately flying to the Bahamas to meet the ship according to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

WWE has been conducting 10-bell salutes for Rocky Johnson at live events this weekend.
