Stephanie McMahon To Address Systemic Racism

WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon will be a guest on Ad Age Remotely on July 22. The remote segment focuses on current events. The focus of the show is how WWE is pivoting during the pandemic, hosting shows without fans.

The show also plans to touch on racial injustices, and how WWE is handling systemic racism within the company.

In this live episode, senior editor Jeanine Poggi speaks with McMahon about how WWE pivoted amid the lockdowns that resulted in the absence of live audiences during matches. While WWE continued to host its matches, it found some innovative ways to bring audiences into the experience. McMahon will discuss how these learnings will be applied moving forward, and also how the organization is addressing systemic racism.

Following the murder of George Floyd, WWE issued a statement condemning racial injustice. Triple H also had meeting with NXT talent prior to television tapings.

Last month, Stephanie McMahon appeared on The Female Quotient, speaking on racial inequality, and how WWE planned on addressing it. She stated WWE has various training in place, as well as encourages employees to speak out about any issues they may face.

She noted that they do not have any formal announcements ready, but are looking to do “something meaningful for the community”

“We’re looking to partner with a few different organizations to make sure we are able to amplify and use our platforms in the best way possible,” Stephanie McMahon stated. “We’re not ready to make any formal announcements, but we’re getting further down the pike in something that will be meaningful for the community,”

Stephanie McMahon plans to returning to The Female Quotient on July 22 for a panel on Women In In the Business Of Sports.

Ad Age Remotely with Stephanie McMahon will air on Wednesday, July 22 at 1:30 p.m ET on Ad Age’s Youtube Channel, Twitter, and Twitch.
